ABOUT
EXCELLENCE AND PROFESSIONALISM
With over 25 years of experience in nonprofit leadership as a vice president of operations, chief financial officer, and director of business functions & human resources, I am now branching out to share these valuable skills as a consultant. Many small- to mid-sized nonprofits are run by passionate leaders who do not have the resources for these high-level positions on their staff. But, they could gain a lot of value by using a consultant on a focused part-time or project-based objective. In this way, I am positioned to help them navigate important strategic challenges.
My non-profit career began in the public accounting world, auditing many different organizations that provided a variety of community services — here I gained a first-hand glimpse into their diverse operations. During this time, Hilltop Lutheran Neighborhood Center (Wilmington, DE) hired me as their finance manager overseeing the accounting and personnel functions for the organization. My love of nature and the outdoors later guided me to accept the position of Associate Director of Business & Finance with the Delaware Nature Society (Hockessin, DE). During my ten years with the Society, I ran their business department, guided strategic planning initiatives and coordinated major projects. I became a member of the Association of Nature Center Administrators (ANCA) and provided nonprofit business workshops at their Professional Leadership Institute as well as support for ANCA’s Peer Consultation program.

In 2012, I was offered the position of Vice President of Operations and CFO for the Mohonk Preserve, so I resettled the family to the beautiful Hudson Valley in New York. There, I helped guide many new programmatic initiatives in education, conservation science, and stewardship of the land balanced with high visitation and usage. I also played an executive role in some of the Preserve’s largest capital projects including renovation of the visitor center, carriage roads, bridges, and historic building restoration, as well as outfitting their largest land purchase with a new trailhead, comfort station, and parking area.
Over the years, I have often been told that it would be great if I could help out other nonprofits — so I am now pursuing that opportunity. The services I can provide are outlined on the linked pages. Meeting with you to discuss your unique organization, specific issues you may have, and how I could help are always without charge. Give me a call or send me an email through the Contact page. Let's get started!
